We are pleased to announce that we have added the newest technology available for diagnostic imaging (x-rays); Galileos 3D Cone Beam. The 3D CT scan allows us to take a picture of the entire mouth, in only 14 seconds, and gives us more information, with less radiation. This will reduce or eliminate the use of those little films inside your mouth.
This is the most advanced diagnostic tool available in dentistry today and will allow us to place single and multiple implants for you here in our office. Implants can replace missing teeth without having to cut down good teeth for a bridge, may be a better option than retreating root canals, & will allow ill fitting dentures to be physically attached to implants so they don’t move. It is exciting to be able to help our patients with better options.
More comfortable, Less Radiation, Higher Quality Images, More treatment options for you. The 3D CT continues our commitment to bring you the highest quality dental care, with the best technology, in a comfortable, relaxing, home style environment.
If one of your physicians orders a 3D CT (cat) scan for you or a family member, we may already have that for you, and if not, we would be happy to take that and send a copy to your physician. Ask the office for details.

The treatment of periodontal patients has evolved over the years. Today, Dr. Ruehle aims at targeting treatments based upon specific patient attributes which include DNA and genetic testing as well as bacterial identification and antibiotic therapies. This direction has allowed us to focus on stability, maintenance and evaluation of each individual patient beyond classic visual clinical parameters. Combining this Salivary Diagnostics with the WaterlaseMD technology, allows Dr. Ruehle to first diagnose your specific problem, then eliminate all bacterial agents through specific antibiotic treatments and the laser will eliminate the bacterial film attached to the tooth and root surface, thus allowing the gum tissue to reattach which will greatly improve your oral health. We have seen pockets reduced from 6mm to 2 and 3 mm, thus actually eliminating the periodontal disease.
- Many laser dentistry procedures do not require anesthesia – no shots.
- Laser dentistry minimizes bleeding because the high-energy light beam aids in the clotting (coagulation) of exposed blood vessels, thus inhibiting blood loss.
- Bacterial infections are minimized because the high-energy beam sterilizes the area being worked on. Example: removing decayed portions of teeth, periodontal disease and root canals, cold sores.
- Damage to surrounding tissue is minimized. Microfractures from traditional drills are reduced.
- Wounds heal faster and tissues can be regenerated. * The laser can reduce TMJ muscle soreness.

Looking for a treat that you can feel less guilty about? Dark Chocolate may be the one for you.
Recent studies show that dark chocolate, which has a very high cocoa content, may have the most concentrated source of flavonol antioxidants in our diet, even higher than green tea.
Dark chocolate has been shown to reduce blood pressure, increase blood flow, increase saliva, and boost the mood regulator serotonin.
To achieve these benefits it must be dark chocolate, not milk chocolate. You may compensate for the high calorie content of the chocolate by reducing calories elsewhere in your diet.

The test came back and it's positive – you're pregnant. Your mind is rattled with excitement, and you have created a "to-do." While your "to-do" list and questions continue to grow, it's important to take the necessary steps to ensure an on-time and safe arrival of your most precious cargo yet.
You've probably heard a few old wives' tales about pregnancy, including "A tooth lost for every child." While it seems far-fetched, it actually is based loosely in fact. Your teeth and gums are affected by pregnancy, just as other tissues in your body. You may not be aware that the health of your gums may also affect the health of your baby-to-be.
About half of women experience pregnancy gingivitis. This condition can be uncomfortable and cause swelling, bleeding, redness or tenderness in the gum tissue. Conversely, a more advanced oral health condition called periodontal disease (a serious gum infection that destroys attachment fibers and supporting bone that hold teeth in the mouth) may affect the health of your baby.
Studies have shown a relationship between periodontal disease and preterm, low birth weight babies. In fact, pregnant women with periodontal disease may be seven times more likely to have a baby that's born too early and too small. The likely culprit is a labor-inducing chemical found in oral bacteria called prostaglandin. Very high levels of prostaglandin are found in women with severe cases of periodontal disease.

Caused by certain medical disorders and is often a side effect of medications such as antihistamines, decongestants, pain killers and diuretics.
Constant sore throat A burning sensation, Problems speaking Difficulty swallowing Hoarseness or dry nasal passages Left untreated, dry mouth can severely damage your mouth. Without adequate saliva to lubricate your mouth, wash away food, and neutralize the acids produced by plaque, extensive decay and gum disease can occur.
- Drink plenty of water, rinse after eating if you can’t brush.
- Floss daily to avoid plaque buildup.
- Use an electronic (pulsating) brush to break up the plaque.
- Chewing sugar-free gum and candy can increase the saliva for a short period of time.
- Your dentist can prescribe a saliva substitute or fluoride rinse to reduce painful symptoms and decay.
- Depending on the severity of your problem, talk to your physician to see if a substitution for your medications might be available.

An artificial anchor for a missing tooth/teeth — The use of the 3D imaging now available, allows Dr. Ruehle To place single and multiple implants with exact precision for you here in our office. Implants allow Dr. Ruehle to correct a missing tooth with a natural look and without cutting down adjacent teeth keeping them in optimal condition.
1. As an artificial root for a single tooth replacement.

1. They slow the shrinking of bone and gum tissue from the area of the missing tooth, thus preventing premature aging.
2.
Dental implants do not develop decay and will never need a root canal.
3.
With the exception of natural teeth, implants will give you the most natural looking teeth and smile.
Not to worry … No matter where the missing tooth is, you will not see a post sticking up, nor a gap. We can always make a temporary appliance or restoration to keep that confident smile looking great.
